Today, there is scientific consensus that climate is changing in adverse ways influenced by humans (1鈥�3), and that humans can reduce these adverse climate effects by limiting and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Many energy companies have set corporate policies to reduce CO2 emissions to 鈥渘et zero鈥� by 2050.
AIChE developed its current climate change policy () through an extensive effort among AIChE members to question, probe, and critique the current understanding of climate science; this effort was organized by the Public Affairs and Information Committee (PAIC) at the request of the Board of Directors.
