Communing with Nature
I always enjoy your editorials, but 鈥淚t鈥檚 In My Nature鈥 in the June 2019 issue was excellent. In today鈥檚 world, we do not take enough time to unwind and release ourselves from the daily grind.
One additional issue not mentioned in your editorial is using nature to replace the daily noise of our lives. I do not have the research, but am confident that the benefits of communing with nature are greatly enhanced by shutting off all electronics. The word recreation has its roots in the Latin words for create anew, restore, refresh (Merriam-Webster dictionary). I know when I do this, it takes a while to recover from the 鈥渨ithdrawal,鈥 but in a short time, I find that I really don鈥檛 miss them. Also, the ability to hear the birds and other music of nature quickly enhances my experience. Even listening to music while outdoors denies you of other benefits of withdrawing.
I encourage all readers to take some time to unplug and unwind. The benefits will be more than worth it.
