Dr. Xiucai Liu is the founder, chairman and CEO of Cathay Biotech Inc., a world leading industrial biotechnology company listed on the Shanghai STAR stock market. Dr. Liu and his team have led the development and commercialization of a series of bio-based first-kind compounds and polymers, such as long-chain dicarboxylic acids (C9-18), butanol, pentanediamine and polyamides 5X. The company is also building the world鈥檚 largest bio-industry park in central China.
Dr. Liu received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and held post-doctoral positions at the Universities of Yale and Columbia. He founded the Structural Biology Group at a major pharmaceutical company in the US. During his stay in the US, Dr. Liu also founded and served as the first chairman of the Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association, whose current membership consists of over 6,000 experts working in pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms. Dr. Liu currently serves as a professor at the Eastern China University of Science and Technology.
