Lorena earned her doctorate in Biology as well as her undergraduate degree at the University of Buenos Aires. After completing her PhD at the Fundacion Instituto Leloir in Buenos Aires she joined the Signal Transduction in Cancer team as a postdocotoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. She joined Professor Ciccarelli鈥檚 group as a Research Associate in 2014. Besides leading her projects, she is responsible for organising the wet lab and supervising new lab members.
Scientific interest
Lorena works closely with the computer scientists in the group, and has developed a vector-free CRISPR gene editing workflow that can be applied to validate newly identified cancer genes and vulnerabilities. Her interest in cancer genomics has also led her to apply cutting-edge next generation sequencing to the genotypic characterisation of synchronous colorectal cancer.
