Five Ways to Celebrate Engineers Week 2023

is a time to celebrate the important work of engineers and to inspire the next generation of innovators. Here are some of the ways you can recognize Engineers Week and support its mission as an AIChE member:

1. Make a 鈥淲hy 91成人短视频 Engineering?鈥 video

Why chemical engineering? Such a simple question with myriad answers, from vaccines, healthcare, food production, to renewable energy, and so many more. AIChE posed this question to student member Sofia Melgar from the Universidad Nacional Aut贸noma de Honduras.

How would you answer this question? Take the #WhyChemE Challenge by posting your own video on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Be sure to include the hashtags #WhyChemE and #AIChE. Feel free to mention us using @ChEnected. When we see your video, we'll share it. And we might even feature it on .

2. Inspire students with a chat with NASA鈥檚 Cathy Koerner

On Thursday, February 23 at 12:00 pm ET, eDiscovery will chat with Cathy Koerner, a NASA leader who is guiding the development of systems that will land the first woman on the Moon and send humans to Mars. You can on Zoom or on a YouTube livestream.

3. Take advantage of downloadable K鈥12 STEM activities

Whether you already work with children interested in science, or want to find ways to share your interests with them, you should check out the many activities and materials available through AIChE鈥檚 K鈥12 Community. Also have a look at the wide range of downloadable materials from eDiscovery鈥檚 . And if you're interested in getting becoming more active in STEM outreach, find ways to get involved by joining AIChE's K鈥12 Community

4. Spark a STEM discussion with a short film

In about 10 minutes, Chemistry Short鈥檚 great films can get students thinking and talking about the possibilities science makes possible. We recently featured one about polymer chemistry, enzyme reactions, directed evolution, DNA, and plastic recycling on ChEnected, but you can find all of their short films 鈥 and accompanying classroom materials 鈥 on Chemistry Short鈥檚 site at chemistryshorts.org.

5. Give back

Whether funding industry and academic awards, the AIChE K-12 initiative, or promoting diversity in the profession, the AIChE Foundation provides funding for impactful programs that support AIChE鈥檚 mission and promote the advancement of the chemical engineering profession, today and in the future.

Give today.
