Coloring Book Communicator
鈥淚 come from a family where art and science is split right down the middle. My mother and brother are musicians and my father is a chemical engineer.鈥
鈥淎nd I was always a doodler, scribbling pictures on top of homework assignments as a way of helping me connect the dots.鈥
鈥淓ventually, I followed in my father鈥檚 footsteps and pursued a career in chemical engineering, but I always believed that science can be creative.鈥
鈥淭hat led me to develop a line of coloring books, called ColorMePhD, to help future scientists understand complex scientific concepts.鈥
鈥淭oday, my focus is on heterogeneous catalysis, and plastic upcycling 鈥 taking plastic waste and breaking it down through chemical catalysis.鈥
鈥淚nstead of throwing our plastic away into landfills, we can convert it, and create really cool things.鈥
鈥淎fter earning my PhD from UC Berkeley and doing post-doctoral work at MIT, I am now leading my own lab as an assistant professor at the University of Washington.鈥
鈥淎nd doodling my way to future findings.鈥
